The Shoppes at Jupiter Rebuild Arrives in Order of Certainty, and Whole Foods Comes First

"The plaza look kind of old, look kind of down, so a renovation will be excellent." Mary Luz has run MaryLuz Hair Salon next to Cinépolis at The Shoppes at Jupiter for 10 years, and that is how she described the place to WPTV in July 2026. The center at Indiantown Road and U.S. 1 was built in 1981 and last renovated in 2014. Reporters are now calling the current work its biggest makeover in more than 20 years.

That description covers three separate changes. Each rests on a different kind of evidence, and the farther out the date, the less is on the record.

Three changes, three levels of confidence

Change What was reported Where it was reported How firm the wording is
Whole Foods replaces Bealls Anchor lease secured before the new owner closed on the center Ram Realty Advisors announcement, Aug. 25, 2025 Lease signed. A spring 2027 opening came from the seller's spokesperson, and Ram declined to give a date
Total Wine takes the Staples space Move-in in 2027 WPTV reporter relaying a Jupiter Town Council meeting, July 2026 Stated as a date, but secondhand from a meeting
Cinépolis shrinks Theater could be downsized by late 2028 to make room for additional stores Same July 2026 report Conditional

The Whole Foods lease is a documented transaction. Total Wine is a reporter's account of a public meeting. The Cinépolis change is a possibility with a year attached.

Both of the first two changes put a new name into a space that already exists. A Whole Foods goes where the Bealls outlet stood for decades, and Total Wine goes where Staples is. The third would reshape a building that has a theater in it. A change that large tends to be the last one decided, and the reporting follows that order.

Why the grocery came before the sale closed

Ram Realty Advisors, based in Palm Beach Gardens, bought the 197,000-square-foot center off-market from Orion Real Estate Group in a deal announced Aug. 25, 2025. Reported prices run from $52.75 million to $52.8 million. Commercial Observer put that at about $268 per square foot. Orion had paid $27.8 million in 2015, so the price nearly doubled over ten years.

In its announcement, Ram said the property would be repositioned under a value-add retail strategy and that it had secured the Whole Foods lease before closing. Commercial Property Executive reported that Ram plans to attract other national retailers. Read together, those statements explain why Total Wine and a smaller Cinépolis appear in the same report as Whole Foods. They are the next steps in a plan the owner described from the start, and Whole Foods was the first piece in place.

Ram declined to give the size of the Whole Foods store or its opening date. The spring 2027 estimate came from an Orion spokesperson speaking to the Palm Beach Post when the sale was announced in August 2025. The July 2026 coverage says only "as early as 2027." Writing it as a date would claim more than anyone on the record has claimed.

The grocery shelf the new store joins

Jonathan's Landing sits on the Intracoastal just south of Indiantown Road, and the plaza is at the intersection of Indiantown Road and U.S. 1. The grocers already nearby include:

  • Publix at Jupiter Square, directly across Indiantown Road from the plaza
  • Publix at The Shoppes of Jonathan's Landing
  • The Fresh Market, on the far side of the Intracoastal bridge
  • Sprouts Farmers Market, a few miles south on Military Trail
  • Whole Foods Market at Downtown Palm Beach Gardens, about seven miles southwest at PGA Boulevard and Alternate A1A

That last entry prompted questions around town, according to the July 2026 reports. People asked what a Jupiter store would mean for the Palm Beach Gardens one. Whole Foods answered that it is opening in Jupiter to meet growing demand and is not replacing any existing location. The Jupiter store would be the company's eighth in Palm Beach County and its second in the northern part of the county. The Palm Beach Post described the corner as a stretch of U.S. 1 whose customer base runs from North Palm Beach to Hobe Sound.

Across U.S. 1 from the plaza, Harbourside Place is in its own redesign. The Jupiter firm Voloridge announced in February 2026 that it had acquired a portion of the district. So the Indiantown Road and U.S. 1 intersection now has a rebuild on each side of the highway, run by two different owners on separate schedules.

The tenants with no date at all

The Whole Foods and Total Wine changes are big enough to have a tenant, an owner and a year attached. Coverage says far less about the smaller businesses in the center. The 2025 reports named Palm Beach Sports Club, the gym, among the anchors, and listed McDonald's, Kilwins and Chili's among the dining outlets. The Palm Beach Post noted at the time that it was not clear which anchors would stay. The July 2026 report gives no schedule for any of them.

The people who work there have said what they think. Mary Luz called the prospect of a Whole Foods neighbor exciting, because she describes her own business as organic and sees potential for a good clientele. She also said she worries that small businesses could go out of business as larger companies arrive, and she is proud of her salon. A shopper told WPTV the changes bring mixed emotions. She said it is nice to keep some of the old around, and it makes her sad to see things knocked down and replaced.

That gap in the record matters for ordinary routines. The grocery and the wine store have names and years. The shops between them, which include the salon, have neither, and the work that shapes a plaza's daily life is mostly that second group.

What would settle the open questions

Four pieces of public information would replace the estimates now in circulation:

  1. A Whole Foods opening date from the company or from Ram, since the only spring 2027 figure came from the seller's side in August 2025.
  2. A Total Wine announcement or a Jupiter Town Council record that puts a lease and a date behind the 2027 move into the Staples space.
  3. Any statement on the Cinépolis footprint before late 2028, given that the current wording is "could."
  4. A list of which smaller tenants stay through the work.

Until those arrive, the Whole Foods lease is the only part of the plan with a signature behind it.
